They’re Real! Lengthening Mascara By Benefit, Accentuates One Lash at a Time

Last Updated on April 14, 2016 by Cassie Lyons

They’re Real! Lengthening Mascara is a well-known Benefit product that’s been sweeping the nation. Coming in three colors: jet black, beyond brown, and beyond blue- this mascara suits any guru. I personally stick to black, but whether you want a pop of color or are going for a natural look- we all have an option. The wand has a domed tip to separate individual lashes or you can just use the well textured side and wiggle, wiggle, wiggle. A tip for even more of a natural look with mascara is to use a tissue and roll your wand on it to remove the excess product before applying. This trick works great for this mascara if you want to have those thin, long individual lashes that are just an accentuated form of your own lashes.

The Positives
This Benefit mascara runs for 28 dollars, which is right in line with the usual price for quality mascara. Along with being well-priced, this mascara doesn’t have a pungent scent or a clumping effect after one application. It is a buildable product meant to suit whatever look you’re going for, day or night. The mascara, although not water proof, does stick efficiently to your lashes without smudging or running easily.

The Negatives
Although this product doesn’t clump immediately, it tends to flake a bit more than preferred. Unfortunately this means you may have those little flakes sitting on the ends of each lash just waiting to fall and stick to your lower lids- not a good look. Also, as with any mascara, if you have oily skin (and eyelids) than you better refrain from rubbing your eyes- unless you were going for the raccoon look of course.

So What’s The Scoop?
They’re Real! Lengthening Mascara is a good buy if you’re looking for a high-end mascara to try out. However, there are a handful of other mascaras I would try before settling on They’re Real! as your go to. Even within the Benefit brand, I have a preferred mascara to this product- BADgal Waterproof to be exact.
