Grate Your Parmesan Faster with This Zyliss Cheese Grater
Last Updated on May 15, 2019 by Cassie Lyons
This Zyliss cheese grater is really a brilliant concept. I’d never thought about owning one like they use at the restaurants at home, but it’s a great idea. When I was researching for this review, I found that many people also think this is a pretty cool idea. According to the company, this cheese grater features an ergonomic design and a fast-grating drum, and it also carries a five year limited warranty, which is great. Zyliss says the grater works with nuts and chocolate, as well as cheese. One of the best things about the grater from my perspective, though, is that it’s dishwasher safe. What’s not to love about that? Not every reviewer did love this Parmesan grater, though. Let’s take a look at the feedback from the reviewers that have put this Zyliss Grater to use.
The Positives
Many people noted that this cheese grater was super easy to clean. That’s kind of a big deal, since even my box grater is difficult to clean sometimes! The grater is easy to use and is quite practical, and it stores small enough that you can put it in a drawer, so it won’t require any rearranging of your kitchen cabinets. Also, the grating mechanism gives a very fine grate, which is perfect when you’re working with hard cheeses like Parmesan and Romano, and when you’re grating chocolate for decorative dishes.
The Negatives
Several reviewers commented that the design of this rotary cheese grater makes it a little difficult to use. The main problem was that it can be hard to squeeze the handles together hard enough with one hand while you’re twisting the drum lever with the other. Another issue is that the drum on this Zyliss cheese grater isn’t interchangeable – you only get the one fine grater drum. This isn’t an issue if you’re just planning to use it for Parmesan and other hard cheeses, but it’s problematic for soft or moist cheeses like mozzarella and cheddar.
So What’s The Scoop?
If you’re looking for a great price on a cheese grater you’ll use essentially for Parmesan and other hard cheeses, this is the way to go, though it may take some getting used to when you first start using it. If you want to grate more than hard cheeses and chocolate, though, I’d go with something like the Zyliss All Cheese Grater, which comes with different drums so different types of grating.
