Not Your Mother’s Way To Grow Long & Strong Shampoo is part of the “Way to Grow” duo of shampoo and conditioner, but I’d like to review these two products separately. This shampoo is meant to strengthen your hair while also encouraging growth. How does it work? By incorporating ingredients known to give positive results- castor oil and horse chestnut seed oil- the shampoo improves the health of your hair while also increasing growth. Castor oil is just a magical substance, when massaged on your scalp it stimulates hair follicles and keeps those follicles healthy which leads to less breakage so stronger, thicker hair. I’ve also heard of using this oil daily with the inversion technique to increase hair growth. But to be honest on the other ingredient, I can’t find much information about the horse chestnut seed oil for hair benefits, although there are some studies about it increasing blood flow which in turn would stimulate hair follicles if applied to the scalp. Also, I have seen though that some people are quite allergic to this ingredient, so be careful!

How Does Castor Oil Help Your Hair Growth?

The Positives
There are quite a few positives to this shampoo. The lather is thick so you can let the product sit on your head without running into your eyes, which is beneficial to let the product soak in. The scent is light and nonirritating, and even though I have no idea if this product assists hair growth, I do know it makes my hair soft and it does feel stronger in my opinion. Plus, this shampoo is quite cheap for decent quality.

The Negatives
Although there is castor oil in this product, it doesn’t seem like there are any other ingredients to increase hair growth and strength; therefore, I feel like the name of this product is a bit misleading so that’s definitely a negative. However, I do like the actual product, but I would maybe like a few less artificial ingredients.

Not Your Mother’s Way To Grow Long & Strong Shampoo is a product meant to stimulate and strengthen hair follicles with the use of castor oil. It is a decent shampoo with a light scent and nice lather, but seems falsely advertised. But for a cheap, effective shampoo, I would say this is smart choice.
