The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Cleansing Wipes: a Miracle or a Nightmare?

Last Updated on February 12, 2018 by Cassie Lyons

The Body Shop Tea tree Cleansing Wipes are makeup and impurity removing facial wipes. It’s a 25 count pack of 100% vegetarian material, and hasn’t been animal tested. The wipes are packaged into a soft plastic container, and to remove a wipe you just pull back the resealable flap, grab one, and then reseal- classic makeup wipe packaging. But the design on the pack is quite lovely and makes you feel like you’re using something natural for your skin, which you are!
The main ingredient in the wipes is tea tree oil which is known for being used to treat blemishes. The reasons it works is because tea tree oil has antibacterial properties to help kill acne causing bacteria, also it dries out blackheads and whiteheads clogged with sebum and has been known to be soothing to blemishes.

The Positives
These wipes remove sweat, oil, and makeup properly after a long day. They especially make your skin feel clean after using them and it feels like your medicating your problem areas. The scent is also pleasing and somewhat therapeutic in aroma. Also, I definitely feel that these wipes help prevent future breakouts and keep present ones at bay.

The Negatives
There are some glaring negatives of this product. It is quite harsh. Usually those who develop acne have sensitive skin- so this product is kind of a love/hate relationship. At first, the wipes do sting a little all overall, but not severely; however, when used over delicate areas like eyelids it burns quite a bit, almost like it’s trying to exfoliate your lids! I don’t know for sure if it’s the tea tree oil, or maybe even the actual material of the wipes- either way I don’t enjoy it.

So What’s The Scoop?
The Body Shop Tea Tree Cleansing Wipes are natural, vegetarian, and even paraben free. They remove makeup and impurities efficiently and help prevent breakouts. Unfortunately, the do not feel good on your face! They can sting, burn, and feel rough on sensitive skin. Therefore, I have to say I wouldn’t purchase this product again and I don’t recommend you to try it.
