Wen Cleansing Conditioner- Is It Better Than Shampoo and Conditioner?

Wen Cleansing Conditioner is a two in a shampoo and conditioner replacement. You’re meant to wash your hair with the product then rinse and pump more product out to let set on your hair as a conditioner till you rinse it out at the end of your shower. The cleansing conditioner comes in several different season scents, and also several that stay the same throughout the year: tea tree, sweet almond mint, cucumber aloe, lavender, and fig. The purpose of this product is to of course cleanse your hair without damaging it and to actually improve its overall texture, appearance, and health as you use it. But does it really work?
The Positives
None of the Wen products contain harsh substances like sulfates or parabens that are damaging especially to color treated hair. The scents are also like aromatherapy as you shower and leave your hair infused with each scent. Although the product doesn’t lather like a normal shampoo does, it does still cleanse. Even with my oily skin and hair, I could use this product as I’d normally use shampoo and conditioner and it did the job of removing the oils and impurities from my scalp.
The Negatives
I can only say the negatives I’ve experienced with the product, but I will leave some links to reviews others have done that accuse Wen of some pretty harsh accusations. In my personal experience though, my hair was clean after using the product; however, it also seemed flatter and less voluminous. Although not as bad as a hotel shampoo, the price is hefty for a product that seemed to dullen the appearance of my hair.

Wen Cleansing Conditioner may be an interesting product which may have begun a trend of companies producing cleansing conditioners and shampooless shampoos- but it isn’t all that exceptional of a product itself. It may substitute as a shampoo and conditioner, but it doesn’t go beyond the two. Therefore, you might as well buy a high quality, natural shampoo and conditioner to do a better job- my suggestions would be from the product line Not Your Mothers.
